So, I believe I'm going to continue writing my story from the character's point of view... But since this is really just my 'test' legacy to help come up with an official set rules for the All My Wishes Legacy, a.k.a. Wishacy and I was documenting my efforts as a way to 'learn' how to play this challenge, I will be adding a bit at the end, *Buckey's notes* that will share anything I've learned in this chapter about fulfilling wishes or whatever, that way my blog will serve both the purposes of entertaining with a Wishacy story, and helping everyone out there who's also trying out this challenge with tips I'm learning along the way. Sound good? GOOD! Enough chatter, let's get to it, shall we?
Mikie's party went great! All the guests had a lot of fun dancing and chatting.
As he blew out the candles, I watched my little boy change into a young man right before my eyes.
As I looked across the room full of people, I couldn't help my mind wandering into the future and what our lives would be like now. I tried to picture Mikie with a girlfriend, driving, bringing his teen friends around the house. Oh my, I hoped I was ready for this!!
My old friend, but new boss, Pauline Wan had came to the party, and it turned out to be an awesome opportunity for me! (Stiles had passed away some time ago, and she had taken over at the theater)
Pauline: "So, it's a disgrace, we need a lead singer to fill the spot, with Cornelia retiring and all, I don't know what I should do."
This was my chance at an impromptu promotion! I had stalled out at level 8, and was wishing hard to top out my career, especially since I was only a few more days away from my elder birthday.
"You know, Pauline, I would be honored to fill the spot. I feel like I'm ready, and I've proved myself, and I really want this!"
"Really?! You wanna fill the Pop Icon's spot? Well, I think that's a great idea! Honeybee, consider yourself promoted!"
YES! I am just one step away from fulfilling my lifetime wish of being a rock star!
I just needed to work on my guitar skill, I was almost maxed out, I had reached level 9. I can manage that!
All of my friends adored Mikie, and he really enjoyed my friends too. I swear, that boy could make friends with anyone, grown up or not.
I noticed a little "glimmer" in Mikie's eye as he said good bye to his childhood friend, Jeanna Stout.
She was the sweet little girl who always invited him over to her house in elementary school and they were pretty close buddies. She had celebrated her birthday right before Mikie's and I was no fool, I could see there was a little something there. I guess we'll just wait and see!
As soon as everyone left, Mikie said he left a surprise for me in my bedroom. I went to my room, to see the picture he had been painting his whole childhood, hanging on my wall, in a frame and everything.
I yelled to him from my room, "Oh, Mikie, I love it! Thank you so much!"
"Cool, I'm glad you like it. Consider it an early birthday present..."
Mikie walked into his room, and was a little put off by all the decor. After all, he was a teen now, and he was living in a child's room! (little did he know what was coming...)
He went to the mirror, and started styling his hair to go for a more 'cool' look. He looked so handsome!
I came in his room, and hugged him to thank him for my picture, and then decided it was time for his present!
"Oh, I suppose you are ready for your birthday present too, I'm guessing you'd like a room a little more, 'teenaged' right?"
"Yes, actually I would. Not to be ungrateful or anything..."
"Say no more... Ok, close your eyes!"
I stepped out of the room, and told Mikie to open his eyes!
"Oh wow! This is much better! Thanks a lot mom!"
"You're welcome. I love you Mikie... better get to bed, it's late!"
"Goodnight Mom, love you too."
The next morning, Mikie got himself up and dressed and ready for school. He made me promise I wouldn't make a big deal out of his first day of High school, so I stayed out of his way in the morning.
I spent the afternoon at the library, I was determined to read 50 books, and was very close now. Around the time Mikie was to get out of school, he called me up and asked me if he could get a part time job. He really wanted one, and said he heard the bookstore had an opening. I told him that was fine as long as he got his schoolwork done. He promised me he would.
The next day, I had a desire to catch up with one of my friends Emma Hatch. My elder birthday was fast approaching, and she asked if I'd like to come to her house to celebrate my birthday!
She lived with her boyfriend, and a couple of other friends of ours, and I thought that it might be quite nice to just have a quiet evening with friends for my birthday instead of some big party. I told her I'd love to! I enjoyed hanging out with Emma, I hoped we could become even better friends!
Although Mikie and I were still pretty close, him becoming a teenager meant we didn't see very much of each other. He would go to his job at the bookstore right after school, and only an hour after he got home, I'd have to go into work.
Even on his days off, I would be working, so we'd usually just see each other in passing, except for mornings, sometimes. He also seemed wrapped up in his projects more and more, and it felt as if he was pulling away from me more and more. Not that it was in a bad way, I mean it's normal for teenagers to start living their own lives. But, I was feeling a little lonely without my boy around! If he wasn't at work or doing his homework, he was working on his novel. I was very proud of him, but sure did miss him!
What else surprised me about Mikie, was who he wanted in friends. I always pictured him hanging out with a bunch of teenagers, but he really has only one teenage friend, his buddy Jeanna, the rest of the people he desired to spend time with were adults! He loved hanging out over at our neighbor's house, where a group of roommates lived.
One of those roommates was one of my friends I had met after a concert, who went by "Afk".He and Mikie had become pretty good friends.
Then there was another guy named Jack Sekemoto that he also hung out with. As far as I knew they were all stand up guys, so I didn't worry too much, and I suppose it was better than him getting in trouble with a bunch of kids his own age!
As for me, I spent pretty much all my free time playing guitar. I was creeping closer and closer to my big promotion, and all that I lacked was mastering the guitar, I knew once I did that, the promotion would be in the bag. I really wanted to achieve my LTW before I aged to elder, but it didn't look like that was going to happen, as the next day was my birthday...
That night I went over to Emma's house, had some lovely cheesesteak, a chat with old friends, and then, my birthday! Here we go!
Well, I feel older, but I don't think I look too bad..
I really wanted to keep chatting with Emma, we were having such a great time. I asked her if she minded if I stayed the night, and she said she'd love to have me! So, I stayed the night at their luxurious apartment. It was a great birthday!
Now that I was an elder, I was getting more antsy for that last promotion. For some reason, it was coming sooooo slowly. I was really starting to get discouraged. I was looking forward to retiring so I could be home more, and hopefully spend more time with Mikie. But I really couldn't do that until I got this promotion. Mikie knew I was stressed about work, and was a sweetie and attempted to make me breakfast one morning to cheer me up.
It was hmm.. a very "crispy" breakfast, but I told him I didn't care, all that mattered to me was that he made it for me. Such a sweet boy!
During my days off to distract me from thinking about work, I'd go play my guitar for the crowd outside the plaza, or just sit and enjoy the company of a friend while I read the latest recipe from the bookstore. I had finally read 50 books like I wanted to, and mastered the guitar, I hoped and prayed the next time I went into work, I'd be getting that promotion I deserved.
The next day started like any other day. I got up, made breakfast, yelled to Mikie that breakfast was ready,
then spent my afternoon relaxing and watching TV. As it got closer to time to go into work, I started to get a feeling. A good feeling.... I felt that today was going to be the day. And guess what?
I WAS RIGHT! I GOT THE PROMOTION!!!!
I was now a ROCK STAR, and could either choose to keep working, or retire. It would have been great to keep working, choosing my own hours, but, my heart's desire was at home, and I really wanted to retire. So, I gave my notice that night, and headed home.
As I crawled into bed that night, I felt so fulfilled and at peace.
I lived my life, I was given a beautiful gift in my son, and I worked hard to reach my dream, and achieved it. Now, I could retire in peace, and support my son as he reached out to make his own wishes, desires and dreams come true. Yes, it was time for me to step back and let my son be in the lime light for a while.
And I was ready to take a back seat and watch...
**Buckey's notes** So, it's finally time to start the 2nd generation! Yes!! Now that HB has completed her LTW, it's time to move on to Mikie! I'll introduce him in the next chapter, and announce his traits so far, his LTW, and all that jazz.
I was seriously getting frustrated with HB's job. It really did take her forever to make her last promotion because she only had like 3 work days a week! Sheesh! And since she had long ago rolled the wish to reach level 10 of her career, asking her boss for a promotion was part of that 'creative' wish fulfilling, because she didn't have a work day for 2 days!
Oh, and anyone recognize their simselves? Mikie really did roll wishes to become friends with AFK after his birthday party. They are best friends right now. :)
