The days following that night found Jeanna and I inseparable. Sure, I had to go to work, or Jeanna had an occasional errand to run, but mostly, we spent our time painting together. I even moved my easel from the attic to Jeanna's room.
You might recognize the artwork on the wall by our easels, I found a replica of the painting Jeanna fell in love with at the gallery. Now it was hanging on her wall, right by the easels to inspire, and remind us of our 1st date.
There were many nights we'd stay up late painting, and I would be too tired to go to my own bed, so I'd just sleep in her room. I loved having her beside me to cuddle with in the night.
Her parents were totally cool with us dating, by the way. we told them a couple of days after our 'date' that we were a couple now, and they just smiled and said, "About time!"
Lakeisha also celebrated her birthday to elder, of course, with no big party or anything. But she did retire, which she was very excited about. I think she was ready to enjoy some time at home, especially since her last baby, Jacques was a teen now, and would be the last kiddo left to grow up.
The only thing Jeanna did without me was work out. She really loved it, and said she has felt better than she ever has before.
She was starting to look, well, even more amazing that she already was. I joked with her, saying if she got any hotter, she would be too good for me, and she would always counter, "I thought I was already too good for you.." with a wink. Which of course I'd have to agree. She was too good for me.
I think that idea actually started messing with my mind. I had toyed with the idea of asking Jeanna to marry me. I mean, I knew how I felt about her. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. But although I knew she loved me, I wondered if I was as good for her as she was for me.
So, although the ring was bought and hid safely in my drawer, I hesitated. I had dropped a few hints to her parents, mentioning the idea of proposing marriage, and they both expressed the same sentiment. In their eyes, I was already their son, and I would know when the time was right to make it official.
Little did I know, that time would find me. Jeanna had been hanging out in my room exercising, and had just taken a shower when I came upstairs looking for a book.
"Hey baby... have you seen that book I started reading last night?"
"No, sorry Mike. I don't know where it is."
I took her hands, and suddenly got very distracted from the idea of finding my book. "Hey, have I told you how great you look lately?"
"Only everyday, sill-.."
I pulled her in for a kiss... we were alone up here, and I had turned my mind from the book to spending the afternoon up here with Jeanna.... if you know what I mean.
"Hey, before you get too carried away, there's something I wanna talk about..."
"Mmm... yes... me too. Come here..." I pulled her in to kiss her again.
She pulled away, and said, "Ok, Mikie... listen. I want to ask you how you feel about us."
"Um, isn't it obvious how I feel? I'm only throwing myself at you right now, right?"
"That's not what I mean. Mikie, I need you to be serious for a minute. Are you happy with the way things are now, or do you think something's missing?"
I didn't like the sound of where this was going. Hesitantly, I answered, "Well, I'm very happy being with you..."
My heart started beating a mile a minute, and my thoughts started racing. I looked at her gorgeous face, and her sexy, fit, new body. Something missing? Oh now, she's probably realized that she's wasting her time with me and wants to move on. I was so foolish for waiting so long to make her mine. I didn't know what to say... I just stood there, smiling at her, trying not to show the emotions really going through my mind at the moment.
"Oh, for Plumbob's sake Mikie! I can't stand it anymore!" she exclaimed. "You are driving me crazy with all this waiting!!!! I know you wanna ask me, so ASK ME ALREADY!!"
"What are you talking about?" I asked her completely puzzled, and a little frightened at how animated and upset she had become.
"DUH, Mikie, I found this...." and with that she bent down on one knee, and held out the box with the engagement ring I had bought for her.
My mouth dropped open in shock. "Where did you find that!!"
"Mikie, I saw this in your drawer quite a while ago, and I'm tired of sneaking up here to stare at it! I can't believe I have to do this.... but please, put it on me and ask me!!" She pulled the ring out and held it out to me.
I guess there was nothing left to do, but to say those words. I took the ring and slipped it on her finger, and asked Jeanna, the love of my life, "Will you marry me?"
"YES!!!! FINALLY!!! YES!!"
She hugged me the tightest she ever had.
A little embarrassed, I looked down and said, "I'm sorry I didn't ask you sooner. I guess I got nervous, and didn't know when the time would be right to ask. I might have been a little intimidated too."
"Oh Mikie, you could have asked me anytime since we've known each other, the answer would have always been 'yes'."
"Well, geez, if I would have known that sooner, I guess we could have saved a lot of time."
She laughed. "Yeah, I guess so!"
"Well, don't worry, I'll spend the rest of my life making up for lost time."
Oh yes, I was gonna marry Jeanna, and my life would be complete, finally...
As time passed....
This small section of this chapter will be told from Jeanna's point of view....
As I looked in the mirror, it all hit me. today was my wedding day. I had been waiting for this day since the day I laid eyes on the cute pudgy little blond boy sitting beside me in elementary school.
I almost looked unrecognizable from the girl I once was. I had really worked my tail off, quite literally and was looking better than I ever did in high school. Today was one of the 1st times in my life I looked in the mirror and truly felt beautiful. A beautiful bride on her wedding day. I was going to become Jeanna Song today!
"Come on, we are seriously going to be late for your own wedding Jen!" I heard my brother yell from downstairs.
"I'm ready! Coming!" I yelled back. Time to head to the beach for the special day! It was a gorgeous day for a wedding!
(just felt the bride should get a little say in the chapter.)
Back to Mikie:
As soon as we got to the beach Lakeisha started grilling up dinner for the hungry guests and Berjes started mixing drinks at the bar.
We had a great turnout for the wedding, it seemed every time I turned around there was a new face to say hello to. Even Jacques had invited a friend from school, and was chatting away with her.
We decided we would have some fun while we were waiting for the sun to set, so I found Jeanna and asked if she wanted to dance.
Soon enough, it was time. Jeanna and I met at the edge of the water, and with a quick whistle, I announced,"If everyone could gather around, Jeanna and I are going to exchange rings now."
While we were waiting for everyone to gather, I gazed into Jeanna's eyes, and playfully said, "Ok, last chance, are you sure you don't wanna make a run for it?"
She squinted with a smile, and said, "Mikie Song, if you try to leave this beach without giving me your last name, there won't be a safe place in this town for you to hide!"
I laughed and said, "Now, that's what I wanted to hear!"
So, with our loved ones gathered around, Jeanna and I exchanged rings, said our vows, and finally kissed to seal the deal. Yes!!! I was finally married! Mrs. Jeanna Song was my wife!!!
We all partied into the night, eating, drinking, dancing laughing, when suddenly we realized it was Berjes' birthday! He aged into an elder, right before our eyes. I guess we had been so distracted with wedding plans, none of us realized the wedding would fall on his birthday. He didn't seem bothered by it though, he said this was the most festive birthday he had ever had!
Soon the guests started dwindling down and we decided to head home. As I walked into the door of our home that night, I felt like a guy who had just won the lottery... I had a beautiful wife, a loving family, I got to spend my days enjoying my artwork... I seriously don't know how life could get any better...
*buckey's notes*- So, Mikie and Jeanna are finally married! Yes! Ok, so I know I told the proposal scene a different way, but I really wanted Mikie to be the one to propose, and she was the one that rolled the wish for it! So... a little creative story-telling, but no harm done, right? Anyways, right after she proposed, Mikie rolled the wish to "Marry Jeanna" so I suppose he really did need a little push in the right direction. And for reals, Jeanna being athletic, always wants to work out now, and she really did lose all that weight by her hard work. I'm so proud of her. :*) She made such a beautiful bride.
Well, all I can say for next chapter is... 1st comes love, then comes marriage, then comes....
Oh, and before I go, I just wanna share one more pic with you... this is how the happy couple chose to spend their 1st night as husband and wife... LOL!
You're a genius for thinking of this. :D I LOVE the concept of a wishacy, and couldn't help but start my own, hehe (though no blog for it, yet at least). I can't wait to see what happens next! Mikie and Jeanna are such a cute couple!
